UCF Cyber team finishes 2nd in National Cyber League

Congratulations to Hack@UCF’s Knightsec team and coach Dr. Tom Nedorost for capturing 2nd Place in the Fall 2021 National Cyber League competition. Teams from 3,917 schools across the United States worked to solve challenges such as identifying hackers from forensic data, pentesting and auditing vulnerable websites, and recovering from ransomware attacks. During the 56-hour competition, UCF’s team earned 3,000 points with 100% accuracy on all 144 challenge questions. Categories in this Fall’s competition included Open Source Intelligence, Cryptography, Password Cracking, Log Analysis, Network Traffic Analysis, Forensics, Scanning & Reconnaissance, Web Application Exploitation, Enumeration & Exploitation in code and binaries. This is Knightsec’s strongest finish in the NCL Team competition to date. Member of this year’s team include Team Captain Cameron Whitehead (MS-DF), Caitlin Whitehead (MS-DF), Alexander Desmond (SR-CS), Zachary Groome (SO-CS), and Matthew McKeever (SO-CS).
