Associate Lecturer

BIOGRAPHY

Tanvir Ahmed is an associate lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Central Florida. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in programming, data structures, algorithms and machine learning, and has been with UCF since 2019. He was nominated for the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award from the CS department for four consecutive years (2022–2025).

He received his doctoral degree in computer science from the Center for Data-Intensive Systems (DAISY), Aalborg University, Denmark, through the Erasmus Mundus joint doctorate program in collaboration with Université Libre de Bruxelles, Belgium. His doctoral research focused on the analytics of large-scale indoor tracking data with applications in airport baggage handling systems. Prior to joining UCF, he had research and industry positions at the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and as a Data Scientist in Denmark, and also taught computer science at the university level in Bangladesh.

His research interests include data management, data science, machine learning, natural language processing, health informatics, spatio-temporal data analytics and computing education.
