BIOGRAPHY
Damla Turgut is a professor and the department chair of the UCF Department of Computer Science. She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2002. Turgut’s research encompasses wireless networks—including ad hoc, sensor, underwater and vehicular networks—Internet of Things (IoT) applications in smart cities and healthcare, and data analytics with machine learning.
She has held visiting researcher positions at KTH in Sweden, the University of Rome – La Sapienza in Italy, and Imperial College London in the UK. Turgut serves as an associate editor for Elsevier’s Ad Hoc Networks and has chaired technical program committees for major IEEE conferences such as CCNC, GLOBECOM, ICC and LCN. Her accolades include the UCF Research Incentive Award (2019), the UCF Women of Distinction Award (2018), and the IEEE ICC Best Paper Award (2013).
