BIOGRAPHY
Tom Nedorost joined the University of Central Florida in 2012 as an instructor of computer science and information technology. He was promoted to associate instructor in 2018 and to senior instructor in 2024. Nedorost is the course coordinator for CIS3003: Fundamentals of Information Technology, CIS4364: Cyber Defense Analysis, CIS4940C: Topics in Cybersecurity, and Director of the Cyber Operations Certificate program and the CS/IT Internship program. He serves as the coach for the UCF Collegiate Cybersecurity Competition (C3) team and faculty advisor for the Collegiate Cyber Defense Club (aka Hack@UCF) and Women in Cyber Security Club (WiCyS). Under his leadership, the UCF C3 Team has won 13 national championships in cyber competitions and Hack@UCF was awarded the Collegiate Cybersecurity Championship Cup in 2014 and 2015 in recognition of the club’s record of exceptional performances over a wide variety of cybersecurity competitions. His interests include cybersecurity, generative AI, information assurance, digital literacy, and societal impacts of new technologies.
Nedorost earned his Ed.D. in higher and postsecondary education at Arizona State University in 2007. He holds an M.S. in management information systems from the University of Central Florida and an MBA in management from the UCLA Anderson School of Management. His undergraduate education includes a B.S. in computer science from Northern Illinois University, a B.B. in personnel administration and industrial relations from Western Illinois University, an A.S. in computer programming and analysis from Valencia College, and an A.A. from Moraine Valley Community College.
Prior to joining UCF, Nedorost taught computer information technology courses at Valencia College in Orlando. His past industry experience includes technical management positions with Andersen Consulting (now Accenture), the Hewlett-Packard Company and the Walt Disney World Company.
