Congratulations to Dr. Hassan Foroosh for receiving the College Distinguished Researcher Award at the Associate Professor level. Dr. Foroosh was recognized for his many achievements, including being co-PI on the largest grant in UCF history (NASA GOLD).

The TeachLivE system developed by Dr. Charles Hughes and his collaborators was featured twice this week in two local reports:

Congratulations to Dr. Joseph LaViola for receiving $75,000.00 from JHT, Inc. for a project titled “Physics Based Multi-Touch Movement Interface Creation for 3D Modeling and Simulation, Phase II”.

Congratulations to Dr. Shaojie Zhang for receiving $164,019.00 from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for a project titled “Identification, Discovery, and Public Archiving of RNA Structural Motifs”.

Congratulations to Dr. Mubarak Shah for receiving $250,000.00 from Sarnoff Corporation for a project titled “Sarnoff: Content Extraction for IARPA ALADDIN Program”.

Congratulations to Dr. Sumit Jha for receiving funding in the amount of $5,000.00 from UT-Battelle, LLC/Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) for a project titled “Formal specifications for computational epidemiological modeling”.

Congratulations to Dr. Sumit Jha for receiving $10,000.00 from US Air Force Research Laboratory for a project titled “Extreme Scale Algorithms for Formal Validation and Parameter Discovery of Computational Models: Applications to the Synthesis of Cyber-Physical Systems and Memristor-based Crossbar Computing”.

Work of our own Dr. Marshall Tappen on computer vision algorithms to “accurately track the nesting routes of endangered sea turtles,” is described in an article in UCF Today.

The research of Dr. Shaojie Zhang, an assistant professor in the Computer Science division of EECS, was described in Genome Technology magazine.
