Pascal
Pascal was developed in the early 1970's by Niklaus Wirth. Pascal did not
introduce many new programming features, but instead combined what Wirth
considered to be the best parts of previous languages. It was designed
primarily as a teaching language, and that is the area where it is most
widely used. Because Wirth believed languages should be simple, Pascal
does not support many features, such as separate compilation, that many
programmers consider essential. Despite this, Pascal has been quite popular
at times, probably because it is easy to learn, simple yet powerful, and
quite safe when compared with most other languages.
