Recent Updates    My Humble Thought    Lessons from Two Years Ago    Lessons from Last year    Gas Station Analysis

Latest Update (2/21/2004)

First, let me get this out of the way . . . Does anyone want to hire me to do nothing? I am pretty good at it, you know . . .

Anyways, so it's been a year. I am a little shocked that UCF still posts my webpage up. I added some lessons I learned last year. Yeah, I got lazy, I let Word converted it into a web document. I am still using notepad for HTML development, so it'll become better when I use a webpage developer.

Also, I added some stats below on the various non-profit organization and their adminstrative expenses %'s. I have given a bit to the Salvation Army and United Way before, but now it's all going to Second Harvest.

Latest Update (4/9/2003)

Yeah, it's been a while . . . for all the (well, two) people who still look at this site, here are my photos from London Because my roommate is a little paranoid, you need to log into Yahoo first using williamy35 and password. Also, I spend my free time analyzing the gas station market. It is actually interesting because there are two trends developing: the brand name doesn't really tell the customer which company they are buying from, and companies broken up from Standard Oil are slowly forming back together. The link is above.

Also, I finally made it to the search engine at Google! The only problem is you have to search "William Yip" and "ucf" . . . AND my link is the last one on the list . . .

Latest Update (12/30/2002):

Yep, it is almost the year's end. I spent some time writing out all the lessons I had (most of them through the hard way) this year in the link above. Hope you find them entertaining.

Latest Update (11/26/2002):

Yeah . . . so it has been 3 months . . . Anyways, I have finally recovered from the recent disappointing congressional race (I haven't recovered from the 2000 one yet, maybe I'll get over it in 2004 . . .)

Also, for all those people who watch Law and Order (I'm probably talking to myself . . .) A&E no longer carries it. They lost their contract to TNT and had to replace that with Third Watch. I updated the times down below.

I moved all the updates into its own page. Look for it at the index above. Also, I moved all the research stuff I did into a separate side of the website and added a one-page section about random thoughts I had. Somehow, I was stupid enough to think someone would read it . . .

Quote of the week (or until the next time I update the page):

"I am not saying he lied. I am just saying that he is not telling the truth." - some guy who got interviewed by ESPN

Random statistics of the week: (what happens when i get bored)

% of Funds Used to Cover Adminstrative and Fundraising Cost at Various Non-Profit Organizations:

United Way: Depends on the area, but about 15% on average

Red Cross: About 18% for the national organization

Salvation Army: About 16%

America's Second Harvest: About 2% (but this may be a little skewed, considering they receive food donations from food suppliers and I would figure that 100% of the food is directly given out.

Social Security: less than 1% of each Social Security tax dollar collected

Source: Each organization's respective website

Introduction and links (something a little lighter)

yeah, i finally started a webpage. and yeah, it sucks. But then, i'm not getting paid to do this, right?

of course, everyone has links, here's a bunch of them
