Jan 01, 2011 Swamantak Bhattacharya is born. Boy he's got my eyes and Bipasha's frown. Fantastic start for the year.
Dec 21, 2010 Ma comes to visit us in Orlando. More family to come to celebrate the birth of our first baby.
Oct 27, 2010 Florence happened. Delivered the 15-minute best paper nomimination talk to a 500+ ACM Multimedia audience. A video of the presentation is submitted to videolectures series and is available here. Following this, the regular 25min one also went well. Received great feedback from the audience and an instant internship offer from Nokia Research, CA. Celebrated my 29th birthday with an interesting fellow conference attendee from Graz(Austria), and a backpacker from Austin, TX.
Oct 11, 2010 A collaboration with Columbia University's Prof. Shih-Fu Chang's group yielded in the **best** performance in NIST's MED (Multimedia Event Detection) 2010 challenge. A report is here.
Sep 28, 2010 Demonstrated the Bee monitoring project and the Photographic quality assessment/enhancement project at the Intel Labs Openhouse event in Pittsburgh. For the first time, got interviewed by press reporters. A video of my poster presentation is available here.
Sep 17, 2010 ACM MM 2010 paper got the best paper nomination. One of the four selected. Also, got a $1000 travel grant.

Aug 24, 2010 Passport gets a schengen VISA stamp for the upcoming conference at Florence in Italy. Hope to deliver an excellent talk.
Aug 11, 2010 Pulled a drowning friend from the bottom of our neighborhood pool. That saved his life. Feels great!
Jul 07, 2010 Gave a summer research proposal talk in Intel labs. Mentors are happy with it. Went around to see the steel city of the US.
Jul 05, 2010 ACM MM 2010 paper on photographic quality got great reviews. It's been an outstanding team effort both the advisors helped shape the content, while the unsung hero is Bipasha who helped me build the dataset.
Jan 18, 2010 Flying back to India to attend sister's wedding. Odd date in the middle of the Spring Semester - but can't afford to miss this event. Would care about the grades later!
Sep 23, 2009 Celebrated third anniversary in Washington D.C., visiting museums, monuments and finally heading off to Delaware to meet buddies from college.

Jan 08, 2006 Bought first motorbike - Suzuki Fiero 150. Amazing pickup, clocked at 113kmph, fun to ride.
