Prof. Shih-Fu Chang at the Digital Video and Multimedia Lab in Columbia University. He graduated from Center for Research in Computer Vision
at the University of Central Florida with a
PhD in Computer Engineering in Summer of 2013, under the joint supervision of
Prof. Mubarak Shah
and Dr. Rahul Sukthankar.
Since 2008, he has been working on broad areas of
Computer Vision such as Large Scale content based Video Analysis, Visual
Surveillance and Aesthetic understanding of images and videos. He has more than

In the past, he has collaborated effectively with organizations such as IBM Research, HBO,
SRI Sarnoff, Lockheed Martin under several US govt. and
private grants, both in capacity of small and large teams. Also, he has interned
in Microsoft Research and
Intel Labs working on challenging computer vision problems ranging from
enhancing perceptive video quality using near infrared signals to modeling
behaviors of honey-bees, during the course of his PhD curriculum. Prior to his
PhD, he worked for 5 years in research and development positions in technology
firms based in India such as

He likes to spend most of his non-research time, playing with his n-2011 year
old son (n=current year) in the outdoors, fiddling with Open Source software
such as the Linux operating system, Computer
Vision Library (OpenCV), Video encoders (FFMPEG). Besides Linux and Open source, he is
an outdoor adventure enthusiast and he enjoys camping, snorkeling, scuba diving,
rod fishing, snowboarding, mountain biking, canoeing, white-water rafting and
rock-climbing. In indoors, he likes listening to Alternative Rock,
