Before UCF, I was working as a Staff Software Engineer at the India Software Labs in IBM Bangalore, India. I used to write code for the IBM's parallel computing framework called the Parallel Environment. Before IBM, I was with the software engineering and technology labs at Infosys Technologies Ltd.. I was investigating interesting topics like Systems Virtualization, Video on Demand Services and Grid Computing here. I had a short stint with Enterprise Software Development in a mid-size software services firm CMC Ltd. and a start-up firm by the name Softnet Solutions in Kolkata. For around six months, I worked at the Indian Statistical Institute, with Prof. Bhabatosh Chanda, towards the completion of my Bachelor degree in Engineering from Asansol Engineering College.

Personal

I spend most of my non-research time with my computer, fiddling with my eight year old love, the Linux operating system and championing Open Source. Here are some of my favorite picks:
  1. Linux flavor - Debian
  2. Audio player - Audacious
  3. Multimedia software - Mplayer/mencoder
  4. Documentation - Pdflatex
  5. Imaging system - Gnu Image Manipulator Program.
Besides Linux and Open source, I'm an outdoor adventure enthusiast and I enjoy camping, snorkeling, mountain biking, canoeing, white-water rafting and rock-climbing. My penchant towards music ranging from heavy metal to classic rock to soft country has increased geometrically since I joined engineering school. Music, my extremely supportive parents, my incomparable wife Bipasha and my sister are my key motivations to do balanced research. Finally, I owe a lot to my alma mater - Asansol Engineering College, the days spent here have taught me more and more about life -the way we are supposed to see it. I have also earned great friends and in fact, the layout of this web-page is contributed by one of my college juniors - Indranath Bhattacharjee.
