Saad M. Khan

I work at ACT where I lead research and development in AI and Machine Learning for next generation of learning and educational assessment tools. In addition I lead business capture and proposal development efforts and serve as PI on various research programs (both IRAD and CRAD). My technical background is in computer vision and machine learning and my research interests include cognitive computing, deep learning, behavioral analytics, affective computing and multimodal analytics.

Prior to joining ACT, I was at ETS and SRI International where led research in edTech, computer vision, multimodal analytics and served as PI/co-PI for multi-year projects involving multiple teams and led business capture efforts with the department of defense and department of education. My research focused on the design and development of autonomous interactive training/learning systems, machine learning algorithms for target tracking, object recognition, 3D reconstruction, event/activity modeling and recognition among others.

I received a Ph.D. in computer science from the Center for Research in Computer Vision at University of Central Florida in 2008. Some of my graduate research work is listed here.
