This course is being co-taught by Dr. Michael Moshell (first 7 weeks), Dr. Tom Clarke and Mr. Glenn Martin (last 8 weeks.) All three of these people have extended careers of research in Virtual Reality and many tales to tell.

The rules for the course are contained in Lecture 1's lecture notes. Contact information for the teachers is found in the syllabus, which also contains a schedule of events, and links to the individual lectures.

NOTE: These notes are being recycled and updated as the course proceeds. If you come to a set of notes which begin with '1998', this is a page which has not yet been cleansed of anacronisms. Proceed with caution!

You will need the following resources to successfully complete the course:

1. A copy of the textbook Virtual Reality Systems, by Vince. The book store bollixed the order and it will be about 2 weeks before this text arrives. Accordingly, we have placed two copies of the first three chapters of the text on reserve in the Main Library. You are advised to go there and either read or photocopy those sections which you find most useful. This is not a substitute for buying the text - it is just a stopgap measure until the texts arrive.

2. A PC with at least a 200 mhz Pentium processor. You will be given access to software capable of working with the VRML and Alice virtual reality systems, which you may install on your computer.

3. A good deal of self discipline.

4. A sense of humor.

So .... let's go see the syllabus!
