Automatic Visual Recognition of Armed Robbery

The goal is to recognize the classic hold-up situation in which the robber has a weapon held perpendicular to the body and the victim's arms are held up parallel to the body. The target environment is similar to a convenience store, with a clerk, customers, and possibly rows of shelves that could obscure sight of some persons (blobs). The arms of the blobs, if visible, will be found and their position with respect to the body will be calculated.
