Andrew Miller
Research Profile
I'm an undergraduate at UCF (until May 2009). My research interests are robotics, vision, and user interfaces. I have been actively involved in research since my sophomore year, including several accepted papers and oral presentations at some leading conferences.
Here's a summary of the projects I've worked on:
UAV Autopilots using Computer Vision:
I made an autopilot interface for landing a UAV using only computer vision and an onboard camera, without a GPS or IMU. (ICRA '08)
Automated Surveillance:
I helped with the KNIGHT software during the ETISEO and CLEAR evaluations. As part of this I wrote an extension of the background subtraction algorithm to handle moving doors. (ICME '07)
Computer Vision on DSPs and GPUs:
As part of our lab's VACE contract, I implemented our background subtraction algorithm on a Texas Instruments DSP and on a graphics processor using Cg. The resulting (ICASSP '08) paper was rejected, but I followed up with a summer internship at TI.
DARPA Urban Challenge '07:
I was part of UCF's Darpa team. I worked with Javed Ahmed, a visiting student Pakistan, on a vision algorithm to safely navigate a street intersection. (AAAI '07)
