Our spring issue has a multi-cultural theme. The U.S. is no longer a "melting pot" of cultures where immigrants lose their cultural identity when they arrive on American shores. Native customs are no longer blended or melted together to make a "pot" of Americans with the same customs and values.
Our modern "salad bowl" of cultures is a festival in which each culture can celebrate differences and practice customs from distant lands. Much like ingredients in a real salad, each culture keeps its own special "taste" and characteristics, while being "mixed up" with other ingredients for a festival of flavor.
