How animation comes to life

animation report.htmlAnimation has been used for many years. In the early 1900's animation was done in black and white such as cartoons and movies. The backgrounds were simple and so were the cartoon drawings. The first animated cartoon was created in 1910 by pioneers such as Emile Cohl and Winsor McCay. In the early 1930's animators introduced the first color film. In the later years George Pal introduced the first puppet animation. In the 1960's computer animation was developed. This animation had amazing color and design. From the 1940's to the 1980's a person named Norman Mclaren tested three dimensional animation by drawing images directly on film.

Today animators mainly use computers to do all kinds of animation. Computers have allowed animators to create moving images on complex backgrounds. Since the 1930's all films and cartoons have been in color. Many things require computerized animation such as music videos, commercials, special effects, and titles. In movies like Star Wars it is hard to tell whether they used special effects or computerized animation.

Before animators had computers and color films, they had to draw the cartoons themselves in black ink. Animators had to draw hundreds of pages of cartoons for just one minute of action. Soon people started drawing cartoons and animations on transparent sheets so that they would not have to draw them twice. Then they would place them on top of each other and this would make the character move.

Today, animators will take a shot of one scene and then they will add that to another scene and make it move. This is called cinematography. Walt Disney uses a lot of animation for the films and cartoons that the company creates and produces. To make a film you would have to draw twenty four frames for only one second of action. When you are drawing each frame you can only change each frame very slightly. Cinematography is also used in puppet or object animation. In such things as graphic animation many different texts can be used. You can have just a simple character and background or a very complex one.

The final steps to creating animation is using traditional ink and paint techniques.
Animators' drawings are used for creating the basis of animation cels. They use drawings to show their creativity. The animators' drawings are transferred on to transparent sheets by cel inkers. Cel painters enable drawings to be colored on the reverse side of the transparent sheets. The word cell comes from celluloid nitrate.

A limited edition cel is a cel created in very limited numbers. The limited cel uses the same hand-painting technique as production cels. There are two types of cels, production and limited edition. The cels main job is to draw and color frames so that the animator can produce a film.

Computer-finished animation and hand-painted production is no longer the last step to animation. Collectors have an opportunity to own important works. The limited edition cel gives collectors this opportunity.

Overall, animation is used in many things. These include movies, cartoons, and even some television shows. Animation has come a long way and it will continue to do so over the years to come.
