Laser-Aided Direct Rapid Prototyping
Many rapid prototyping techniques are two-step processes involving an
intermediate step of mold preparation before fabricating three-dimensional
objects. This research is concerned with a one-step direct process called
Laser-Aided Direct Rapid Prototyping (LADRP) in which three-dimensional parts
are fabricated in near-net shape by directly depositing materials layer by
layer with a laser beam.
This project is supported by a grant from the
National Science Foundation,
grant number MIP-9625752. This project is jointly conducted by the
Department of Computer Science and
CREOL.
