Doctoral Graduate Teaching Assistantships
Computer Science awards a number of Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA's) to outstanding full-time students in the Ph.D. program. Students are selected by the graduate committee after a thorough review process. Stipends for 2002-2003 were $17,000 per calendar year. Stipends are competitive and may be revised each year. Recipients are also provided full tuition and fees. During the first year, in addition to duties as teaching assistants, recipients are expected to actively initiate and conduct research under the supervision of a faculty advisor, and to prepare for the doctoral qualifying exams, usually taken in the second semester in the program. Upon sucessful completion of the Qualifying Exams, stipends are increased to $18,000, and to $19,000 upon passing the Ph. D. Candiadacy Exam, taken near the end of the students coursework. Normally, after the first year, award recipients are expected to be supported by faculty research grants as GRA's (see below). Applicants must have complete application materials submitted by March 1 for admission to the following Fall semester. Deadlines for Spring and Summer semester may be found in the University catalog or accessed at www.graduate.ucf.edu.

Doctoral Graduate Research Assistantships
