Each group should pick a primary reference (their choice) and do a short summary - 1/2 page single spaced that presents the salient points of the  reference.  In addition, they should re-do their reference list and annotate and rank them - giving each source a 1 for major reference and  a 2 for minor reference. References should be in a correct

 format:

[Number(bold)] Author (Last,First)Bold, Title(underline), Date, Source(italic)  with page numbers if appropriate.

The source should include all information necessary for someone else to be able to find it.

Annotate means to add 1-2 sentences that briefly describe the reason for inclusion as a reference. This includes the reference selected for the summary.

They should turn in as a group:

 1. A hardcopy of the reference they selected

 2. A hardcopy of the annotated reference list.

Individually they should turn in a (hardcopy) summary in their own words on the reference they selected as a group. We need to be able to gauge their individual ability to assimilate information and present it clearly.

This one should be graded! Copying or paraphrasing sentences from the reference for the summary will result in a failing grade. I say this because it is common practice to copy sentences from the reference for the summary.

The arboretum group still owes us an explanation of what they are planning to do.
