  1. Final Grades are posted on WebCT. Homework #5 grades were purely based on performance. Verification was based on 5 test cases at 5 pts each. There were also 2 test cases for the triangle inequality and 2 for the general case. These were worth 15, 20, 20, and 20 points each. To determine the score, I found the ratio of the minimum (that any group got, not the actual minimum) to each group's and multiplied by either 15 or 20. If it didn't run, it got a 0. I'll eventually post these test cases. In general, I was really nice with the grade distribution. The average course GPA was a 3.03, which is much higher than I usually give. (I aim for in between 2.6 and 2.9 most of the time.)

  2. Overall, I was pleased with the performance on both portions of the exam. The average on the multiple choice was 28/35, (a full 8/35 higher than the CS2 class that took the same test, showing that you guys actually learn something in CS3 =)). Both Adam and I felt that the written portion was a little bit easier, but that you guys did better as a whole than on past exams. Many people did very well with all of the tracing questions. In particular the network flow and matrix chain were very well done. The only question I thought more people should have gotten was the time-analysis question, which was order n, not order n^2. Also, there was some difficulty with the reduction, but I expected that.
