Directions to ftp a file from Olympus to your computer ------------------------------------------------------ 1) Open Internet Explorer 2) Type "ftp://olympus.acs.ucf.edu" where you normally type in a web address. 3) You will be prompted to enter your username and password. 4) Enter in your olympus username and password. 5) The IE window should show a graphical view of your olympus files. 6) Click and drag the appropriate files onto your desktop or any directory on your computer that you would like to do so. IF THIS DOESN'T WORK, TRY THIS: Alternate ftp directions ------------------------ 1) Download psftp from the same page you download putty. It's the fourth link down from the top. Save the application to your desktop. 2) Open psftp. 3) Type "open olympus.acs.ucf.edu" at the first prompt 4) Enter your userid and password when prompted. 5) You will then get a command prompt at your home directory in olympus. 6) You can use all the same unix commands you usually use to navigate through directories. (cd) 7) Get to the directory with your file. 8) Then type "get hello.c" to retrieve the file hello.c to your desktop. 9) Then type "exit" to quit the application. Note: You must only do step 1 the first time, after that you'll have the application to use and can just do steps 2 through 9.
