Good planning and management is critical for producing a succesful web site. This assignment will help you plan out your web site before you begin creating it. It is much easier to make changes now than it will be later!
Format: This assignment is to be typed and turned in no later than the end of class on the due date. You may turn in this assignment early. The following items are to be included in your assignment.
Item 1: Web Site URL.
For this item simply provide the URL of your future home page ( ie "http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/~myusername/cgshome.html"). You do not have to ahve anything published at this site, just provide the URL for this assignment. You must name the "home" page of your web site cgshome.html, just as you see here with no capital letters nor spaces in the name. Each of you should be able to use your UCF Pegasus account to set up your web site, but you are not required to do this. If you use Pegasus, your web site URL will be "http://pegasus.cc.ucf.edu/~aannnnnn/cgshome.html", where aannnnnn is the Id assigned to you for your Pegasus account. You may use other accounts you may already possess, or create free accounts at places such as Yahoo that allow free personal web sites.
Item 2: A code name used to publish your grades.
I usually publish grades on the web site instead of using WebCT. Provide any combination of numbers and letters that will allow me to publish your grades on the course web site and protect your privacy. Remember this name!
Item 3: Summary of web site topic and goals.
Informally describe the topic of your web site and the goals you have for it.
Is it a personal web site? Informational? Entertainment? Business web site (see note)?
Who is your intended audience? What kinds of things are you planning on including?
Three or fours sentences is sufficient, but too much is better than too little.
(Note: Your site cannot promote your private business, nor contain offensive
nor pornographic material. Satire business sites are fine.)
Item 4: Sketch of page layout.
Format:
Describe what your page layout will look like. Specifically identify in your sketch where the banner will be located, where the navigation features will be, and where the content of the web page will be. If you choose to have a splash page with format different from the other pages on your site, show that too. Don't worry about content, colors, or fonts at this point, just the position and sizes of the areas. This item must be typed, not hand written (using the drawing facilities in MS Word or Powerpoint is useful).
See below for examples.

Item 5: Rough site map.
Provide a graphical map of your site. The map should show how someone starting at your home page can get to the other pages or main sections of your web site. You are allowed (and expected) to change this site as you actually develop the site; this is a just a first attempt. It
does not have to be complete but should list every page you think you will have.
The following pages are required for your site: home page, stylesheet page, sitemap page, a links page, and the zero tolerance page. Even though you haven't created these pages yet, they must appear on your site map. The remainder of your site map will show your unique pages. Use the drawing features provided by word or image editing software. ( Example)
Item 6: Grade Record Sheet (Separate sheet from rest of assignment.)
Format: Found here.
Simply follow this link and print out the form.
This is your grade record sheet. This becomes your offical record of your grades. Every time
you receive a grade for an assignment, you will want your grader to record the grade and initial this page. It is not required, but otherwise you will not have a good idea of what grades
you received for the assignments. You will receive a grade for future assignments regardless of whether you have your grade record shet sigend for past assignments or not.
